About the Author

James Harty lectures at the Copenhagen School of Design & Technology. His PhD at the Robert Gordon University (2012) was entitled The Impact of Digitalisation on the Management Role of Architectural Technology. His Masters at University College Dublin (UCD) (1988) compared house typologies against urban morphologies in Dun Laoghaire, while his Bachelor project at UCD (1983) designed maritime facilities at Port Oriel. James started using CAD in 1983 and BIM in 2006.

Tahar Kouider (MCIAT) is Programme Leader of Undergraduate and MSc Design Management programmes at the Robert Gordon University. He trained as an architect then obtained an MPhil from Oxford Brookes University. With 18 years of teaching and research experience, he has published internationally and contributed to the UK BIM Academic Forum and the International Congress of Architectural Technology (ICAT).

Graham Paterson (MCIAT) is an ARB registered architect, chartered architectural technologist and self-builder. Initially trained in mechanical engineering, he has taught technology and product design in the UK and internationally. He is a member of the BIM4SME team tasked by Government to assist SME built environment organisations' engagement with digital technologies in advance of the 2016 BIM mandate.

About the Author
Joshua Pien teaches Hindi and Urdu at the University of Pennsylvania. Previously he worked as a Hindi-Urdu language specialist at the National Foreign Language Center at the University of Maryland. He has also taught Hindi at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, and the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Fauzia Farooqui teaches Hindi and Urdu at Princeton University. She has also taught Hindi/Urdu at various other institutions, including the University of Virginia, the Defense Language Institute, University of Michigan, University of Wisconsin, and the American Institute of Indian Studies in Lucknow, India.

A Culturally Relevant and Communicative Language Teaching Hindi Textbook

As a TESOL educator and Hindi learner, I can confidently recommend this textbook to anyone looking for a textbook for a university or high school class, as well as for those looking to study on their own. The book focuses on topics which are relevant and necessary for anyone planning to actually use Hindi in the future. It provides ample communicative teaching based exercises which require students to move beyond what many other Hindi textbooks feature (namely transformation drills) and actually try to use language in ways that they would outside of the classroom. The layout and text are clear and aesthetically pleasing and color and pictures make it more interesting than many other books on the market. The inclusion of a CD which demonstrates the pronunciation of vocabulary items and has material for listening exercises provides students with the opportunity to listen at home.

As an educator, I was thrilled to finally find a Hindi textbook which featured cultural references and a strong communicative focus. These factors were also encouraging for me as a student. Moreover though as a student I found this to be a fantastic resource as it is both comprehensive and easy to understand, even when I was initially learning via self-study. It has been instrumental in helping me to begin my Hindi learning journey and will be my most frequent reference guide in the future as I pursue additional study. I would highly recommend it for others!

Changed my life perspective

After one day of reading this book my life changed. I was in the parking lot of Krogers, contemplating if I had enough money to buy an avocado, Pico, cilantro, Greek yogurt ranch dressing and lime chips.. I decided that I didn't and that I t was TOTALLY OK...I COULD MAKE A TURKEY BURGER AND GET MUSTARD PACKS FROM A CONVENIENCE STORE (I'm a condiment junkie) and be ok... I put me car in reverse and saw my Godmother in my rearview mirror..I spoke and we hugged..she then commenced to give me $50..cause she felt compelled to do so..I rode around for a bit crying tears of joy on how the universe responded instantly to my desires!!! This s*** is real!! Mans work is forever with himself!! Change your perspective..change your life.

The second of the Hicks books that I've read - and this one largely mirrored the first. There is a component where Esther and Jerry discuss their relationship with "Abraham", their name for Collective Consciousness. Then they take the reader through elements to discuss the power of positive thought, the impact of vibration on the manifestation of desires, and the interrelationship between the mind and physical creation.

The middle of the book contains affirmations and analysis of several example issues (like the overbearing parent or the bad job), as well as a description of the 22 levels of the Emotional Guidance Scale. They then walk the reader through example exercises and techniques to raise the vibrations from dismal to hopeful and beyond.
