Thirty-six year old college Professor Ethan Thorpe needs help with his father, so he hires twenty-one year old Brittany Baldwin. Ethan is instantly attracted to Brittany, but knows that nothing can come of it. Ethan has experience, has been married, divorced, and is the father of a toddler. Brittany has no family of her own and develops strong bonds with the Thorpe men. Ethan's grandfather is a delight and he forms strong emotional ties to Brittany as well. Ethan's ex-wife decides she no longer wants to care for their son and turns him over full time to Ethan. Brittany is now taking care of Ethan's father and son. No longer able to control their feelings, Ethan and Brittany have several 'make out' sessions.
This is where I start having problems with the story. Ethan is supposed to be the more mature person, but it felt like it was actually Brittany who was the more mature one. Ethan fires Brittany on several occasions because he couldn't control his hormones. He leads her on through most of the story. His emotions and attitude kept running hot and cold. The story had potential, but it turned out to be not real exciting.

I have trouble with Ethan Thorpe's problem with the age difference. Most men like them young -- although I understood his hangup because of his ex.
Indecisive, wishy-washy, hormones??? Naw! Just not thinking like a man. A man's attitude needs to be researched more for this type of book.
Brittany Baldwin's gentle take-over of the son and grandfather was really great but she wants to let the hormones take over??? Not very mature --
The ex was truly a bit of a witch. Made a good villian. Story not that bad just lacking somewhere. Still a decent read.

The definition of La Douleur Exquise is the heart wrenching pain of wanting someone you can't have, and this book from J.R. Rogue lives up to its title. The poems contained within the pages are heart wrenching, and soul consuming. They are real, and I felt all of the heart ache that Rogue pulled from the depths of her soul.I tried to pick a piece from the book that I could choose as a favorite, but the fact is that I found myself identifying with everything. There is not a poem in those pages that deserves more praise than the one before it. Every line written is as beautiful as it is painful, and I found myself constantly drawing from that pain. There is not one person on the planet that has never felt the feelings on these pages, and while reading it was a great reminder that we are never alone. There is always someone out there that has gone through similar instances. This is definitely one book that I will be going through time and time again.I have been a fan of Rogue's for quite some time and when the opportunity arose to review, I was completely all over it. Beautifully heartbreaking words! For anyone who has experienced unrequited love or who has had their heart shattered by love This is for anyone who loves poetry, or even if you've never read a single poem in your life. It's (currently)set as a great price for kindle, so get it now!

I had to go before it covered

I discovered her because one of my favorite authors posted some of her work on Instagram. I immediately fell in love with the sadness in her words and was looking for more of her work. I was so excited when I found out she was releasing a collection of her work and immediately pre-ordered this. This surpassed all of my expectations! I can't describe the emotional puddle I become every time I read this.

“I think I can feel it
most days
in the in-between;
you spell my name in strange
ways- b l a m e.”

You can feel Jen’s pain through her tragic words. It's amazing how intimate poetry can be, it feels like she gave us a huge part of herself. Her words read like a classic already. She is easily my new favorite poet of our time!!!

"For every lover who has tasted the unrequited kind, too many times."

Before I even began reading the poems, from just this line, I knew this would be a great read. I connected instantaneously and the poems that followed surely didn't disappoint. J.R. Rogue writes in such a raw, honest way - it's beautiful.

It reads like a journey, rather than a random string of poems. It's very cathartic, I was completely unable put it down - at the beginning, I related so strongly to that heartache, but by the end I wanted to feel that same release felt in the last poem. I love that it's honest, I love that it doesn't sugarcoat love as something that is always beautiful and perfect, but simultaneously still offers the hope that things will improve and we can stitch ourselves up and continue on. Highly recommend.

Emotive poetry for those who love and have once loved

I'm a lover of the poetry J.R. Rogue shares for free on Instagram. I wanted to support and thank her for sharing her emotive words with us and purchasing this collection with the lovely, illustrated cover was definitely the way to go.

I thought I was going to read only a couple poems a day (ya know, spread them out a bit) but then I finished it in a day. No regrets lol. Although I will be returning to this collection again after I experience a heartbreak like these.

A must for anyone interested in NRs and their origin

This is the seminal publication on nursery rhymes, IMO. The Opies have been collecting information about nursery rhymes for more than 50 years. The second edition of their OD of NR was published last year (1997) and is greatly updated on the first. It includes indepth analysis of over 550 nursery rhymes. I've been unable to find a NS of my knowledge that isn't included in there.
It makes a great present for a new-born, or his/her parents more like!

Getting dated.

This is the second edition, published in 1997, of the original Oxford Dictionary of Nursery Rhymes, also by Iona and Peter Opie, which appeared in 1951. The Preface to the Second Edition explains that the authors gathered many new references over the intervening four decades, and thanks several correspondents for still further additions and corrections. There is, consequently, much more information in the apparatus of the newer edition. However, the revisions are not thorough enough; I still get the sense that I am reading a book put together in the years after World War II.
For one thing, the Introduction appears to have been completely untouched; there are no references to any publication after 1951 (with the exception of references to two recent compilations by the Opies), and most date from the 1940's (for example, the reference on p. 3 to "two admirable Presidential Addresses by Lord Raglan to the Folk-Lore Society, 20 Mar. 1946, and 5 Mar. 1947"). Moreover, the discussion evinces a strange English elitism that may have seemed conventional six decades ago, but has not worn well with time. For example, the Opies seem to consider it a great fillip to the status of nursery rhymes that some of them can be shown to have been written by respected members of the English upper class; but we would consider these figures second or third-rate authors today (for example, Sir Charles Sedley). Also, there is too much blue-blooded in-group banter; for example, under "Bo Peep," one finds this assertion: "it is on record that in his early days Irving played the part of the wolf in Little Bo-Peep at Edinburgh." OK, who is Irving? If you want your book to be read by the generations that succeed you, you must not make allusions that are comprehensible only to your peers and coevals.
Finally, the book is unnecessarily difficult to use. I STILL cannot find "Pop Goes the Weasel" in here; either I am an idiot or the indices are inadequate. I think the latter.

My teen daughter loves drawing fashion ever since she took a class at her Jr. High. This book as so many tips and techniques. It shows so many different figures to draw clothes on including children. It also shows techniques for different types of materials too. She has used this book daily since it arrived, including taking it on vacation to the beach.
